Halloween

This Halloween season Nick and I were fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with our friends. We had a lot of fun! We went to a corn maze, carved pumpkins, went to Nick's aunt's haunted woods, and got together to play games and watch the BEST WORST movie alive! If you haven't seen Troll 2 I highly recommend it!

Letter

After 21 years of living in the same house, the house that I grew up in, the only house I have ever known, my mom is getting ready to pack it up and move on to something better. As I was going through stuff in my old bedroom I came across this letter that I received when I was in Young Women's. As I was reading through it I couldn't help but get a little teary eyed.

Often I get caught up in the day to day hustle and I forget the person who is most important to me. The person who has made this life possible. The person who loves me more than I love myself at times. The Savior of this world. It makes me sad that some days I don't even take 5 minutes out of my day to thank him for all the blessings in my life.

My Dear Friend,

How are you? I just had to send you this letter to tell you how much I love you and care about you. I saw you yesterday as you were walking with your friends. I waited all day hoping that you would walk and talk with me also. As evening drew near I gave you a sunset to close your day, and a cool breeze to rest you. Then I waited, but you never came. Oh yes it hurt me, but I still love you because I am your friend.
I saw you fall asleep last night, and I longed to touch your brow, so I spilled moonlight upon your pillow and your face...again I waited, wanting to rush down so we could talk. I have so many gifts for you.
You awakened late this morning and rushed off for the day. My tears were the rain. Today you looked so sad so alone. It makes my heart ache because I understand. My friends let me down and hurt me many times, but I still love you. I try to tell you in the quiet green grass. I whisper it in the leaves and trees, and breathe it in the color of the flowers. I shout it to you in the mountain streams, and give the birds love songs to sing. I doth you with warm sunshine and perfume the air. My love for you is deeper than the oceans and bigger than the biggest want or need you could ever have.
We will spend eternity together in heaven . I know how hard it is on earth. I really know, because I was there, and I want to help you. My father wants to help you, too. He's that way, you know. Just call me, ask me, talk to me. It is your decision... I have chosen you because of this, I will wait... Because I love you.

Your Friend,
Jesus Christ

I hope we can always remember just how much we are loved and how much Jesus wants to be there for us, in the good times and the bad. We just have to remember to ask for His help.

Until next year, summer...

I'm sad to see that summer is coming to an end but I can't lie, I'm loving this fall weather. Nick and I had a fun, crazy, interesting summer. We worked a lot, bought a house, got a dog, spent time with friends and family, re-roofed our garage, replaced our water heater, went horseback riding, and much more! Here are some of our highlights...

Real Game

Franklin testing out the Bike... I think he likes it

If this doesn't make you smile, I don't know what will!

I was laying there, minding my own business and Franklin crawled up behind me and spooned my neck. It was hilarious.

Our garage right after the boys took off the old roof

Joe (Nick's uncle) and Jim (Nick's dad) trying to figure out a game plan for putting the new roof on.

Clay being... Clay

Our new roof!

The boys relaxing after all their hard work

Apparently you can take dogs into Lowe's ... I had no idea!

Franklin enjoying his ride

Beautiful fall colors

The whole group getting ready to head out on our ride through the mountains

MOOSE'S!

My Husband is a cowboy at heart, and a cute one at that!

When we got back up to the top of Snowbird, this is what we saw...

Thanks Dad for taking us on the AWESOME horseback ride! and Happy Birthday! We love you!

Oh Nick....

This is what happens when I ask my husband to smile for a picture...

I swear, there is never a dull moment with this one.

California Baby!

It's a tradition for my mom and I to go to California every summer to visit my cousin and his family and of course...hit the beach!! Last year we weren't able to go and so when I found out that I had a few days off in a row from work, we jumped at the idea of being able to go. Unfortunately that meant that I had to be away from Nick on my birthday, but we had a great time and Nick was very understanding (I think secretly he was excited to have a few days of alone time).

I love Cali so much! We went swimming in my cousins pool, hit the beach... a couple times, ate at Ruby's diner on Balboa Pier, watched a bazillion lifeguards run down the beach, had a BBQ, played with my cousin's adorable children, and had some good mother daughter time. Unfortunately every time we went to the beach it was pretty chilly but I didn't even care! I was just happy to be there.
